What invoice extraction actually costs: per-document vs per-page billing

Last updated: 16 August 2026

DocuParse bills per document at $5.00 per 1,000 on Starter and $4.60 per 1,000 on Pro, with no minimum commitment. Most hyperscaler extraction APIs bill per page instead, so a 12-page invoice costs twelve billable units there and one here. Several vendors publish no price at all.

How the billing models compare

Competitor figures are intentionally left as VERIFYuntil fetched from each vendor's live pricing page. Published third-party rates for these products conflict, so this page compares the billing structure — which is stable and verifiable — rather than a headline number.

Worked example

500 invoices per month, averaging 3 pages each:

  • • DocuParse: 500 documents → the Starter plan ($14.99/month) covers it.
  • • A per-page API: 1,500 billable pages.

The gap widens with page count. A run of 500 twelve-page invoices is still 500 documents on DocuParse and 6,000 billable pages on a per-page API.

When per-page billing wins

  • • Single-page receipts at very high volume, where per-page rates can be lower per unit.
  • • Workloads already inside an AWS or GCP pipeline, where the marginal integration cost of that provider's extraction API is close to zero.

FAQ

Does page count change what I pay on DocuParse?

No. One document is one successful /extract call regardless of page count. A 12-page PDF invoice counts as one document.

Is there a minimum commitment?

No. No minimum, no annual contract, and no sales call at any tier.

What if I go above 5,000 documents per month?

Contact support — the self-serve plans cap at 5,000 documents per month.
